It looks like India, it smells like india, but it is a lot more relax

I arrived today 2 hours later than plane.
I am posting 2 pics (not great but it gives a hint of the very little I saw today. I will come back after the Nepalese new year) but I wish I could show you the view from the plane this morning. Sadly, I didn't have my camera handy :( We went over the hills with the tips covered with rize paddies and the Himalayas popping out of the mist in the background.
It really feels like India here. It looks like it, it smells like it, it sounds like it: crazy traffic and crazy honking. But people are different. They are shorter and there is a reel mix between Indian looking and Tibetan looking ones. And sticking out of the crowd are the white giant tourist like me.
I already planed my treck. I am actually leaving a day earlier. I start tomorrow instead, to have more time in Pokara after. I will be trecking for 11 days, so I might not be able to post anything during that time. I will when I come back.

Kathmandu is not as crazy as people had told me. Probably because I went to India before and especially Delhi. But it is polluted. I can already feel in my throat.

C'est parti

I am in transit in Bahrain. It already feels far from home. Somehow the smell reminds me of India.
I was suppose to arrive tomorrow at 7:30am, but the plane is already being delayed 2 hours. This is going to be a short night ;)

Nepal me voila...

It's been more than 2 and half years since we came back from our trip around the world.
This was the best time I ever had so far, a sense of total freedom where even bad times are now remembered as some of the most interresting experience. We discovered people and cultures we only knew from pictures in magazines and TV screens, which meant we knew nothing at all.
Anyway, I was going to write a long and boring blabla, but I'll stop right now. The fact is that it was an awesome year, The return was difficult as "normal" life goes way to fast. And sadly just 2 and half years later this beautiful year around the world looks close and distant at the same time, like it might just have been a beautiful dream.
Since we came back we did little trips, including London, Hawai, and a new roadtrip in Southern California. Those were great but I was missing the exitment of discovering a new culture.
So this year I am going to Nepal (India on prosac) for a little more than 3 weeks, from the 29th of March to the 24th of April. I will be travelling solo this time. Starting with a 10 day treck in the Annapurnas followed by the Bisket Jatra, one of many Nepalese Festivals. It is celebrated in Bhaktapur (East of Kathmandu) in association with the Nepalese New Year.
I have no reel plans for the remaining 10 days, except that I will be visiting the Kathmandu Valley with its medieval towns and temples. I might also go south to look for Rhinos and Tigers on the back of an elephant in the Chitwan National Park or go rafting in the West. I'll let the flow of things let me know where to go ;)
For this trip, I thought I would try to start a new blog. But this time it will be a lot more simple than "Fromage et Chocolat autour du monde". The plans is to post one picture a day. But it might end up being a few pics or a video sometimes. Hopefully I will be able to keep it up...

Today is the 27th of March 2012. I am in Paris getting ready for the departure tomorrow. The weather is beautiful. It feels like summer. As usual people are seating at cafe terrasses drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. It feels good...
